Ruggish partnered with Candylab on a special edition wooden toy: a truck designed exclusively for their brand. Wild Cube Design and I were each asked to pitch concepts. The client picked mine.
My pitch leaned into vintage 70s surf culture, the era of Volkswagen camper vans, sun-bleached colors, and easy California weekends. I built a palette that aligned with Ruggish's lifestyle aesthetic while still feeling at home in Candylab's family of nostalgic, midcentury-inspired toys. The challenge was making something new without breaking what makes Candylab feel like Candylab.
The final design moved into production and sold over 500 units.
